a place of history

The Cistercian monastery at Fürstenfeld, founded in 1263 by Duke Louis II of Bavaria (Louis the Severe) as a penance for killing his wife Maria of Brabant, served as the intellectual and spiritual focal point of the Fürstenfeldbruck region until the general secularisation of Bavaria in 1803. This tradition was revived with the inauguration of the Veranstaltungsforum in autumn 2001, built in the historic monastery grounds next to the restored service range.
